Hey Guys,
After one year of earth sciences at the UVA back in 1996, I decided this wasn't my cup of tea. I started a new study program called Beta Gamma. It was a quit experimental program combining natural and social sciences leading to one of twenty regular study programs..for me it was Psychology.
Psychonomics was the obvious choice for someone with a background in natural sciences and an interest in more fundamental questions. But after working on research projects for Maartje Raijmakers and Eric Jan Wagenmakers I discovered that I missed a connection with real world problems and I moved to more applied projects studying navigation in urban environments (thesis) and usability-design (research project). In this last project I worked at the Delft Technical University on the use of eye-tracking in usability testing (see reference below).
In 2004 I started working for the psychology department and in 2006 for the Institute for Interdisciplinary studies. First as a teacher of different courses on academic skills, cognition, human action and decision making. Later also as a trainer in didactic skills and as one of the program coordinators of the beta gamma bachelor.
In my spare time I like to take pictures,dj or cycle...
